You Down is a Community-first platform.


We want every user on You Down to have a positive experience from day one, and keep You Down a safe platform for all users. Your use of You Down is governed by these Community Guidelines ("policy", "rules" or "guidelines") at all times, and shall be enforced in accordance with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.



Free Speech



We believe in every person's right to share their thoughts, feelings and perspectives freely with their community. In fact, the You Down platform is centered around this core concept. To empower our communities to share and govern accordingly, we enforce a high-level free speech rule surrounding the types of discussions that are considered 'acceptable conduct'.


* You Down is a place for all ideas, as long as they don't direct hate towards another person or group of people.

* Differences of opinion should be expected in a diverse community, but alternative perspectives should be treated with respect.



Community Rules



Abusive Behavior



Private information: you may not publish or post other people's private information without their express authorization and permission. Private information includes, but is not limited to:

copies of personal identification, personal information not known to the public, private medical data.


Intimate media: you may not post or share intimate photos or videos of someone that were produced or distributed without their consent. Media depicting sexual violence and/or assault is also not permitted. Note: limited exceptions may apply if it is clear that the interaction is consensual.


Threats to expose or hack: you may not threaten to expose someone’s private information or intimate media. You also may not threaten to hack or break into someone’s digital information or attempt to incentivize others to do so (e.g., through setting a bounty or reward on such actions).


Malicious Behavior



Account "squatting" will not be permitted. You Down profiles without account activity for a period of 6+ months are eligible for an account takeover at the request of another user. A backup of your data will be available at your request for up to 12 months. Please contact us directly to enquire about this data.


Abuse of our service shall be considered and dealt with as a violation of our community policies, including but not limited to: automation of posting, liking, replying and creation of multiple accounts to promote another organization.


Some posts may appear abusive when viewed in isolation but may not be when viewed in the context of a larger conversation. When we review this type of content, it may not be clear whether it is intended to harass an individual, or if it is part of a consensual conversation. We will do our best to interpret these rules as they apply “in context”.


Community Governance



You Down is designed to enable our Experiences to govern what is acceptable content and use these rules as a fallback. We entrust this momentous task to Experience admins because we know first-hand that members of a community know their peers better than anyone else. As such, we do not engage in every report of questionable conduct and leave content moderation to Experience administrators.


Age-Restricted Content



Some content is age-restricted on You Down. This includes, but is not limited to: alcohol or drugs, sexual in nature, legally or otherwise required age-restricted content.


We reserve the right to restrict posts or media (images, attachments, links, etc) that meet this criteria. If posts inside an Experience—or the Experience itself—contain age-restricted content, we may also make that Experience private.


To avoid content deletion from your Experience with age-restricted content, you must include "18+" or similar in your Experience bio, as well as make the Experience private.



Content Rules



It is our mission to empower communities to grow, create and thrive. So, we've made it our policy that (in most scenarios) You Down will not participate in content moderation inside of Experiences. If an Experience feels that something is out of control, we will be notified by our systems and will look into the offending User(s).


There are a few cases where we are required, either by law or by moral obligation, to step in, including but not limited to:


Intellectual Property



Trademark: we reserve the right to suspend accounts or take other appropriate action when someone’s brand or trademark, including business name and/or logo, is used in a manner that may mislead or confuse others about the affected brand affiliation.


Copyright: we will respond to clear and complete notices of alleged copyright infringement. Our copyright procedures are set forth in our Terms of Service. Violations will be treated as per Violations, below, or by one of the following copyright-specific enforcement actions:

* Removing content and placing a copyright violation notice in its’ place

* Applying a copyright banner on top of the content

Make a DMCA copyright claim, file a counter-notice, or report an infringement of your trademark.


Provocative and Dangerous content



We want to ensure our communities are safe, fun, and positive for all. Provocative content that incites violence towards others (whether individually or in groups) is never tolerated. We will do our best to remove or restrict this content whenever possible.


We also restrict content that isn't age appropriate by placing it behind a private Experience and ensuring it is clearly marked with a minimum age.






Any person accessing or using any of You Down’s services must adhere to the policies set forth in these Community and Content Policies. Failure to comply at all times with any of these policies may result in one or more of the following enforcement actions being taken against you:


* Requiring you to remove prohibited content before you can again create new posts and interact with other users

* Limiting your ability to create posts or interact with other You Down users in the future;

* Asking you to verify account ownership with a phone number or email address

* {ermanently suspending your account(s)


Content that puts our users at risk of physical harm, including to yourself or others will not be tolerated. Self-expression is the goal of our platform, but we have zero-tolerance for hate.



Common Law



You Down operates in Australia, and will adhere to law enforcement requests for information as it relates to our community guidelines. We will never give out your personal information to third parties, except where required to by law.
